Well Service Valves & Seats

In 1983, Novatech pioneered the manufacture of the original inertia welded unibody valve design. This valve, manufactured by Novatech and marketed under other brand labels, became the standard of the industry. The Novatech valve combines the advantages of a forging with the advantages of an investment casting; the forged alloy steel upper body assures impact strength and the precision cast guide legs minimize flow restrictions and fluid turbulence.

All Novatech valves and seats are manufactured to rigid quality control standards that include: CNC machining for exact dimensional tolerance control, heat treat carburizing with a deep hard wear case, full metallurgical laboratory tests on every furnace load, and seat tapers that are 100% gage inspected to meet pump manufacturer’s exact dimensional specifications. Valve inserts feature a high strength, abrasion-resistant polyurethane; all inserts are machined after molding to exact thickness tolerances.

Novatech manufactures a wide variety of valves, seats, and caged assemblies for almost all well service pumps and applications; including work-over, cementing, acidizing, and fracturing.

Full Open Mud Pump Valves & Seats

Novatech is the leader in full open valve and seat technology; the first valves and seats in the industry rated for continuous service at 7500 psi. The Novatech design incorporates many of the features proven in the Novatech Well Service Valves & Seats above, plus the following improvements:
Full Open Mud Pump Valves & Seats
  • Massive, rigid full open seat design, results in reduced fluid end cracking and washouts! Uniform seat loads against the fluid end deck eliminate washouts from web seats, inherent to the non-uniform web seat loads.
  • Extra large seat bearing area spreads valve load a over larger area, reducing metal wear, and increasing valve and seat life.
  • Cast-N-Place™ insert design locks insert in groove and eliminates underside insert washes, the most frequent cause of premature insert failures. Cast-N-Place™ process reduces stress on the valve insert during insert molding & curing, increasing insert life. Ideal for LCM muds.
  • Heavy-duty puller head pulls seats in the most difficult of conditions.
  • Available in API 4, 5, 6, 7, & 8 sizes, plus seats for National pumps.
  • High Temperature Inserts available rated to 300°F

Novatech High Temperature 300 deg Pistons

Novatech High Temperature 300 deg Pistons
Novatech Limited (formerly Novatech Corporation) was founded in 1970 to provide inertia-friction welding to the energy industry and the automotive after-market, a service which was not readily available in the Southwestern United States. As such, Novatech became a pioneer in inertia-friction welding with the acquisition of a Caterpillar Inertia Welder—only the second such machine shipped to the Southwest.
Over the years, Novatech’s customer base has continually expanded as a result of its application of a high-tech method of joining like and unlike metals for both the military/defense and commercial industries. Although Novatech’s primary activity is currently the manufacture of products for the oilfield industry, it has in the past been an approved vendor for the manufacture of products used by the U. S. Department of Defense. Through its state–ofthe- art computerized quality control system, Novatech assures that all of its products meet the stringent quality control standards applied to military specifications.

In 1982, Novatech began manufacturing valves and seats for the oilfield industry.

In 1983, Novatech pioneered the manufacture of the original inertia welded uni-body valve design for the oilfield service industry. This valve, manufactured by Novatech and marketed under the “Roughneck” label, quickly became the standard of the industry, since it combined the advantages of a forging with the advantages of an investment casting. Thus, the well service industry was able to enjoy the benefits of a valve, wherein the forged alloy steel upper body assured impact strength while the precision cast guide legs minimized flow restrictions and fluid turbulence.
In 1991, Novatech began to market it’s own line of valves and seats.

In 2001, Novatech introduced valves with the new Cast-N-Place™ insert. This insert, for which a United States Patent(s) has been issued, eliminated many of the common problems which have long plagued valves with snap-on inserts. Through such innovations, Novatech has become the leader in full open valve and seat technology with its valves being the first to be rated for continuous service at 7500psi.

In 2003, Novatech introduced High Temperature Valve Inserts and High Temperature Pistons, both reliably rated to 350°F. Currently, Novatech manufactures a wide variety of valves and seats, both full open and stem guided designs, for the following applications, among others: work-over pumps; high pressure well service fracturing pumps; cementing pumps; and mud pumps. Today, Novatech is actively pursuing improvements to its product line with an aggressive R&D program. Fields of research include: stress reduction via computer Finite Element Analysis (FEA), new insert compound development for high temperature and high pressure pumping applications, and the evaluation of new metallic wear resistant coatings for valve seats and other pump applications.
